Why A Keynote on Identity and The Brain?

The way we treat each other has the power to change our lives, our productivity, our happiness and our choices. Because it has the power to change our brains. And that is what my presentations represent—a return to who we are meant to be.

AND WE ARE ALL BRAIN ARCHITECTS.

We have the capacity, the opportunity, and the privilege to build better brains one interaction at a time using the very skillsets upon which our humanity was built (centuries before Twitter.)

Our species may have survived because we outran a few tigers, but we flourish today because we collaborate and innovate.

Yet we’ve lost sight of this crucial component to our very survival as a species. We need each other to not only survive, but to find deep joy and peace and to flourish.

What does this mean in the workplace?

·      Corporate insurance costs are unsustainable so we turn to wellness initiatives to help solve these problems.

·      87% of organizations cite culture and engagement among their top challenges so they turn to HR for solutions.

But these solutions are not working as effectively as they could.

Why? Because the answer is not out there. The answer resides within each and every one of us—in the skillsets we bring to the boardroom, to the water cooler and to the sales presentation.

Social and emotional skills are as much a priority as cognitive skills, if not more. [I could use a quote from James Heckman here, he won the Nobel prize in economics and supports this thinking.]

I teach the teachers—educators, parents, and professionals—to help employees and students find actionable and practical solutions to this mental and physical health crisis affecting the bottom line.
